Why Angelina couldn’t make the Oscars

by Sherry on February 28th, 2007

Among all the ball gowns and speculations over who would win which award, Angelina Jolie was absent. It was a shame because heaven knows the woman knows how to look gorgeous on the red carpet. However, she had prior commitments and was too busy for award shows and snippy comments from Joan Rivers et al.

According to the UNHCR news site, our favorite ambassador of good will was visiting refugee camps in Sudan’s Darfur region and yesterday she completed a two-day visit of camps in Chad.

Her comment on the deteriorating conditions:

“It’s always hard to see decent people, families, living in such difficult conditions,” she said. “What is most upsetting is how long it is taking the international community to answer this crisis,” Jolie added.

Apparently, Angie traveled through a sandstorm and was face to face with the despair that refugees face every day; however, she was met with incredible hope.

If only more people in Hollywood put their money and their names to good use, the world would be a much better place. Thank goodness for celebrities like Angelina Jolie.

it is such a shame how low some people think of her.. I love her and her family! God Bless them all.. Ange is so amazing and inspiring… very genuine and walks the walk.. it is no wonder, Brad is with her, because he too believes in what she speak of..

Angelina is a fabulous lady. We need more “Angelinas” in this world.
She uses her fame to expose the conditions of third world. How women & children are treated is deplorable. I know because I’m from the 3rd world. America got it made. Every institution in America is regulated & protected by the state and/or federal agencies. Over there orphanges are thrown up just to house the orphans, and there may not be food for every meal, and worse yet, “sanitation” is a big issue. America is really blessed, and it is really a land of opportunities. The third world envies that.

Yes, other celebrities (Joan R forgot to mention) would rather spend a lot of time and money in plastic surgery to be able to flaunt themselves in those award events. What a waste of time and energy. I don’t understand why people love to speak ill of Brad and especially Angelina. Most people are either JEALOUS or just plain crazy.
